Dear Parent/Guardian(s):

     My name is Dr. Mark Andrade and I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Potter-Burns Elementary School. I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year and I am looking forward to meeting the Potter-Burns community, as well as hearing all about your summer adventures! For those of you who have not met me, I taught in the Providence School District for 16 years as a special educator and have been an administrator for the past 4 years in the Pawtucket School District. As principal of Potter-Burns my goal is to provide a positive school culture that inspires and challenges our students to reach their fullest potential. The educational program must be academically rigorous, engaging each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experiences, and also be exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas. I am confident that together we can make Potter-Burns an even better place for our students to learn and grow. Keep your eyes open for your ClassDojo account! This is a great way to stay connected with your school community!

     On behalf of our entire faculty & staff, I would like to welcome our new and returning first, second, third, fourth and fifth grade students to the newly enhanced Potter-Burns Elementary school! It is with great honor and much enthusiasm that we invite you and your child to the Open House for the 2017 - 2018 school year scheduled for Monday evening, August 28th, 6:00 – 7:00 pm. The first day of school for all students will be the next day, Tuesday, August 29th. The open house will provide you and your child an opportunity to meet the classroom teacher, become familiar with the new building, and learn about new procedures.

     I would also like to extend a special welcome to our incoming Kindergarten students, class of 2030.  We will have a special kindergarten orientation on Tuesday evening, August 29th, 6:00 – 7:00 pm, where your child will meet his/her classroom teacher and you will receive important information. Of course, kindergarten families are encouraged to attend the Open house as well.

     Please be sure to check the Potter-Burns website, http://pawtucket.burns.schooldesk.net/ for important news and updates. Remember, school starts for all grades on Tuesday, August 29th at 9:00 am. Please plan to arrive 20 minutes early on this day. Kindergarten students will have a delayed start of 10:00 am! Check out the new “Get Up & Go” early supervision program on our webpage. The Get Up & Go Program offers parents a safe, supervised environment for their children before the start of the school day for a nominal fee. See below for more information.

     Please know I will work tirelessly to ensure all your children have the best possible experiences while at Potter-Burns. Please feel free to contact me at the school at 729-6250 or email me at andradem@psdri.net if you have any questions.

I look forward to serving you as your school’s principal.

Sincerely,

Mark Andrade, Ed.D.

Get Up & Go Program

The Get Up & Go Program

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Potter-Burns Elementary school is proudly offering an early morning care program named “The Get Up & Go Program” every morning from 7:45 - 9:00 a.m. on regular school days throughout the school year. The Get Up & Go Program offers parents a safe, supervised environment for their children before the start of the school day. The children will have time to study, participate in various games and/or activities and socialize with their peers. Breakfast will be offered to all students.

Potter-Burns Elementary school asks parents not to have their children on campus prior to 8:40 a.m. However, if you have no other options, The Get Up & Go Program may be the answer to your early morning needs. The cost of the program is $150 per quarter, less than $18 per week!  Payment plans are available.   Registration will take place on Thursday, August 24th 8:00 - 9:30 am and that evening, 5:00 - 6:30 pm at the front entrance of the school.  For more information, please contact the COZ office at 729-6293 or the office at Potter Burns. Mrs. Jen Rigley will be coordinating the program!

There is limited availability and will be first come first serve.
